Childhood
Needs Room.

Room to wander through the woods, dig in the earth, make things by hand, imagine, play, and grow.

The Woodland School is creating a place where childhood is rooted in nature, meaningful relationships, and the community children call home.

Rooted Here. Growing for Tomorrow.

Our region is shaped by forests and mountains, farms and gardens, streams and changing seasons. At The Woodland School, children develop the understanding and skills that allow them to meet the natural world and the people who live in it with loving reverence.

Through imaginative play, gardening, crafts, music, stories, movement, meaningful work, and exploration of the natural world, children build foundations they will carry into later learning—and into life.

The community helps the school take root, and the school helps strengthen the community in which it grows.

We want The Woodland School to carry the imprint of the community around it.

  • A garden created with help from local families and gardeners
  • Materials contributed by a nearby business
  • Knowledge shared by a farmer, artist, forester, craftsperson, parent, or grandparent
  • Trustees bringing different parts of the region together around a common purpose

These contributions do more than stretch resources. They create the relationships that connect The Woodland School to its community.

There are many ways to help The Woodland School take root.

A founding gift can help us open. A recurring gift can help sustain the School. Time, skills, useful materials, and community connections can help build the place children will experience every day.

Rooted in childhood. Rooted in community. Rooted in the natural beauty of the place we call home.
